Program :

      For your convenience, we are open all year, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (closed for standard holidays, two weeks at Christmas and two weeks for Spring Break).  With a teacher to child ratio of 1:8 and a maximum class size of 25 children, your child’s individual learning needs are our priority. The program is designed for children from the age 2.5 to Kindergarten.

           A typical day for the children consists of:

 ·  8 to 11am — Montessori curriculum.  Working in various areas such as language, math, science, sensorial, and practical life.

·  11 to12pm — circle.

· 12 to 1:30pm — nutritious lunch time and clean up.

·  Every Monday and Thursday children experience 1 hour of music with a special music instructor 

·  1:30 to 3pm — outside time together, free play with equipment, tending to garden.

·  3 to 4:30pm — learn through play, sociodramatic.

·  4:30 to 5pm — getting ready for home.

 

           Enthusiasm is a precious commodity but it cannot be bought – children have it instinctively.  We do not want to crush it at any cost.  One of the most important values we teach the children is respect for the environment.  And the best place to start is in our community.

· The children are actively involved in an annual national beach clean up.

· In the fall, they help along with their parents to plant trees.

· During the salmon run, we visit Goldstream Park to learn about the salmon life cycle.

           All these experiences are brought back into the classroom where we can expand on them.  In this way, the children learn very concretely about our environment and the importance of preserving it.
